A menhir or natural rock outcrop, 10 meters high and 6 meters in diameter, composed of two stacked blocks.
Pedra Alçada Menhir
Location
It is situated near Santiago Maior, in the Alandroal municipality.
Access by car from Santiago Maior:
Take the road towards Redondo. After about 2 km on the main road, turn left onto a dirt road marked by a white wall (note: private property and beware of livestock). Follow this road for 3 km and stop by a large house on your right. Pedra Alçada is about 300 meters from there.
Alternative route from the village of Pias:
Near the exit of the village (about 100 m from the Santiago Maior Educational Center), follow a dirt road marked with a sign for Pedra Alçada. Continue along the road/trail for about 3 km until you reach the site.
