The Alqueva region is known for its fabulous night sky, which allows for exceptional astronomical observation. With the collaboration of the local authorities, the six municipalities adjacent to Lake Alqueva (Alandroal, Barrancos, Moura, Mourão, Portel and Reguengos de Monsaraz) have dimmed their lights between 11pm and 5am. This way, everyone wins: the municipalities, which use less electricity, nature, and people, who can enjoy a better sky.
