The Alqueva dam provides an additional incentive to visit a region of outstanding natural beauty, a region that has retained its identity virtually unchanged over time. The countryside, the people, the villages and the wildlife remain virtually unchanged.

To these, we can now add a lake, which cools the sun-drenched plain but does not cool the warmth with which this region always welcomes us.
