Moura offers a wide variety of places of interest to visit.

The Alqueva Dam is located in the municipality of Moura, about 10 kilometres from the town, and is a must-see attraction. Completed in 2002, its construction completely transformed this inland region of Alentejo, enabling the irrigation of vast agricultural areas as well as the development of tourism in the region.

In the town of Moura, the Castle stands out, featuring the Clock Tower and the armoury museum housed in the Keep. Visitors can also explore several ruins within the castle grounds, where the tourist information office is located. Other points of interest in the town include the 16th-century Church of São João Baptista, the Mouraria, the Arab Well, and the Olive Oil Museum. The beautiful Doutor Santiago Garden is also worth a visit, offering wonderful views over the Alentejo plain and a vantage point from which the Alqueva Dam wall can be seen.

In the municipality of Moura, be sure to visit the village of Aldeia da Estrela. With the construction of the dam, it was transformed into a peninsula. Surrounded by water, the village is one of the most picturesque in the Alqueva region.

Further inland, you will find Safara, home to its beautiful and imposing parish church. Also worth visiting is Santo Aleixo da Restauração, where in the past several confrontations took place between Portugal and Spain during the Restoration of Independence.
