Pedrógão
The village of Pedrógão belongs to the municipality of Vidigueira. The parish also includes the village of Marmelar, another riverside village of the Alqueva.
Near this peaceful village, the Pedrógão Dam was built and inaugurated in March 2006. The dam is part of the larger Alqueva project, designed to stabilize the flow of the Guadiana River downstream from the Alqueva Dam, generate hydroelectric power, and supply water for irrigation.
Among the points of interest, in addition to the dam, are the Main Church (Igreja Matriz), the Antas de Corte Serrão, and in Marmelar, the Church of Santa Brígida.
