Capelins, also known as Santo António, is a small village in the municipality of Alandroal with around 600 inhabitants.

Located in the southeastern edge of the municipality, the parish of Capelins borders the parishes of Santiago Maior, Terena, and Nossa Senhora da Conceição. To the south and east, it neighbors the municipalities of Mourão and Reguengos de Monsaraz, as well as Spain.

Until 1836, Capelins belonged to the now-extinct municipality of Terena, which also included the parish of Santiago Maior.

The origins of Terena are very old, dating back to the 13th century when its first charter was granted. Through its castle, the town of Terena played an important role in border defense, serving as a strategic point along the Guadiana defense line, similar to Monsaraz further south.

The parish of Capelins also includes the hamlets of Montes Juntos and Ferreira de Capelins.
