Hermitage of Santa Catarina

Built by the knight-monks of the Order of the Temple who took part in the reconquest of the stronghold of Monsaraz, this chapel is located on the eastern side at the foot of the hill. It has a hexagonal tower shape, with interior dimensions of 5.30 × 5.30 metres.

The Gothic vault is high, and a gallery of small depressed arches connects to a false triforium. In the 17th century, the nave was probably added, built in masonry and covered with a gabled roof.

It is classified as a National Monument.
