Church of São João Baptista, Moura

The Church of São João Baptista dates back to the 16th century and was designed by the architect Cristóvão de Almeida. The building features a Manueline architectural style.

Inside the church, there are three vaulted naves separated by arches, decorated with Seville tiles in shades of blue. Around 1708, part of the structure collapsed and the church was subsequently rebuilt. In the bell tower, there is a small balcony built in 1610, intended for celebrating Mass for prisoners. The main nave was reserved for the clergy and nobility, while the side naves were intended for the general population. On the façade stands the main portal, designed in the late International Gothic style with a distinctive Portuguese influence.
