The Church of São Francisco de Mourão is located in Praça do Município, almost opposite the Church of Misericórdia. It dates back to the 18th century, during the reign of King João V, and was completed during the reign of King José I in 1758. Its Baroque architecture, built in regional masonry, features a schist portal.
Inside, the church has a rectangular nave with a round vaulted ceiling, and lime and patterned tiles dating from 1800 adorn the walls.
The main chapel, with a quadrangular plan, houses the altar and a ceiling painted in water-based pigments, decorated with allegorical medallions representing the attributes of the Calvary, as well as the crossed arms of Jesus and Saint Francis of Assisi.
A famous holy water bowl was discovered in 1940 during restoration work, embedded in the wall and encased in lime.
The sacristy is modest but typical of the Baroque style, featuring padded drawers and metal fittings.
