The Church of Santa Casa da Misericórdia, dating from the 17th century, was founded during the reign of King João III by the Brotherhood of Mercy of Mourão.
The church features a masonry façade facing south. The main portal displays the crowned coat of arms of Portugal, dated 1743.
The altar, made of polychrome stucco, dates from the reign of Queen Maria I. Although modest in artistic style, it is decorated with the Chronogram of Jerusalem, the Cross of Calvary, and the Tomb of Christ.
Inside the church, visitors can find the valuable Archive and Cartulary, containing manuscripts from 1548, as well as processional banners depicting the veneration of Our Lady of Mercy on one side and the Pietà on the other. There are also two dressed sculptures (rococo figures) representing the Virgin Mary and Saint John the Evangelist.
